Information for All Students

Vaccines and Clinical Training

The University of Washington requires all faculty, staff and students to be vaccinated and attest to their vaccination status. You can find the attestation form HERE

An increasing number of clinical training sites throughout WWAMI are also requiring verification that students are fully vaccinated (two weeks or more since last vaccine dose) before students can begin seeing patients – either for clinical rotations or for the Primary Care Practicum (PCP)/College mornings. If you are not vaccinated, you may not be able to participate in your clerkship or PCP/College mornings depending on the requirements of the clinical training site. If you are not vaccinated and are concerned about your clinical training opportunities, please contact Dr. Tolbert (adminsa@uw.edu). We strongly encourage you to get vaccinated.

Due to increasing Delta variant cases, changes may be happening in hospitals and clinics, such as cancellation of all elective procedures. If you have any concerns about changes happening during your rotations, please reach out to your clerkship director.

Masking on the UW Seattle Campus

The University of Washington now requires masks indoors for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status.

Mandatory UW Zoom Update

All UW students, staff, and faculty with a UW Zoom account will need to update their Zoom app to version 5.7.4 or higher by Wednesday, August 25 in order to continue joining or hosting Zoom meetings. A campus wide email went out on Tuesday, August 17 with details about this update. More information and instructions can be found on the UW-IT website: https://itconnect.uw.edu/action-required-mandatory-zoom-update/

UWSOM Financial Aid Update

UWSOM Financial Aid is currently working on SOM Scholarships and Fall quarter aid. Due to staffing changes in the UWSOM Financial Aid office and in the main UW Office of Student Financial Aid, we are behind schedule in processing scholarships and forms (as is the main UW Office of Student Financial Aid). We are working on getting scholarship information out to students as soon as we can and will keep you updated with our progress. Additionally, our response times may be delayed as we focus on distributing funding to students. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer and thank you for your patience.

Admissions Ambassadors Program

When you were considering medical school, and then later applying, did you get a chance to talk to kind, helpful current students? Were you not able to but wished you could have? Join the Admissions Ambassadors Program and help future medical students by being there for them!

As an ambassador, you’ll be an important part of the medical education ecosystem by helping our office connect with future students. Your participation level will be up to you and your schedule. Please see this document for more information about this opportunity. This year all applicant interviews will be virtual, so Ambassador participation for interviewing applicants will be virtual, as well.

Sign up by Friday, September 3, and reach out to Sarah Hafner, Admissions Administrative Manager, if you have any questions!
