COVID-Related Information

Do You Have Concerns About COVID-19 Symptoms or a Possible Exposure?

If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or if you have encountered a possible or known exposure, please follow these COVID-19 Exposure/Symptoms/Diagnosis procedures if you are on a clinical rotation: https://education.uwmedicine.org/covid-19-exposure-clinical/. If you are on a Foundations students, follow these procedures: or https://education.uwmedicine.org/covid-19-exposure-foundations/. If you have questions that are not addressed by the procedures outlined through these links please contact Dr. Maestas or Dr. Tolbert at adminsa@uw.edu

Vaccine Requirement

As we mentioned in this newsletter last week, the University of Washington is requiring that all students attending classes on campus this fall be vaccinated. UW medical students in Seattle need to either follow University policy, or submit an exemption request for religious, philosophical or medical reasons. Please be aware that we anticipate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will, in the coming months, make it mandatory that all students be vaccinated, and at that time the only exemption allowable will be for medical reasons. Here is a link to the HSIP page for more information.

UW Medicine Town Hall Meeting

Please join us for the next UW Medicine Town Hall, Friday, May 28, at 3 p.m. PDT. Zoom link: https://uw-phi.zoom.us/j/887116941.

Are you familiar with UW Medicine’s Transgender and Gender Non-Binary (TGNB) Healthcare program?

Historically, individual primary and specialty care providers within UW Medicine have provided care to gender diverse patients, but their efforts were not coordinated nor designed to be sustained on a programmatic basis. Additionally, gender diverse individuals report that it is difficult to identify if a particular facility is welcoming and educated to their specific health needs.

The TGNB Healthcare program was created to integrate and optimize care across the UW Medicine network and to systematically address healthcare disparities for the TGNB community. The program’s mission is to be a national model for healthcare equity and work to reduce health disparities. Its vision is to provide patient-centered and gender-affirming care to UW Medicine patients.
